Here and there

I've been away.  I don't just mean away from the blog, which has been somewhat by accident, but away from home.  The week before last I went up to Edinburgh to have some time with my mum.  It was a very relaxed and gentle time, with some catching up with friends and a lot of doing not very much.  It was just what I needed.  I hadn't realised until then quite how tired I'd got during the course of my MA, so it was great to have some time to relax and recharge.

I was back home for a week then before coming away again.  I'm now on holiday in Norfolk with W, and having a wonderful time.  The cottage we're staying in is in south Norfolk and is beautiful.  It's ever so comfortable, very well equipped, and has a fabulous wood burner that heats the whole place very quickly.  I'll post a few photos in a more detailed post before the week's out, but for the time being I just wanted to say that I'm still here, and that I'm away having a great time.

However much of a great time we're having, there is the slight possibility that we might have to carry on having a great time for slightly longer than planned.  While we've had one day of torrential rain and otherwise fair weather, the rest of the country seems to have been flooded.  In fact, Newcastle and the surrounding area seems to have been very badly hit again, and the northbound A1 is still closed.  We're not supposed to be going home until Saturday, so there's still time for things to be cleared, but we've had to start thinking about contingency plans in case there are still problems at the weekend.

We spoke to the cottage proprietors today, and we can stay here next week if need be (although W may find it tricky getting time of work).  We'll need to decide by tomorrow evening, because if we are going to stay on then we'll both need to register with the local GP as temporary residents so that we can get more of our meds.  That would need to be done on Friday.  It may not come to that, although, personally, I wouldn't complain if I had to extend my holiday.

I promise, absolutely promise to get back to you very soon with more holiday details and some photos.

Hi Becky, it's good to hear from you :)
Sounds like you've been having some much needed rest and relaxation. As much as I'm sure you were having a lovely time away, I hope you've made it back home by now!!
